Certified Labor and Birth Doula, Trained Childbirth Educator

Arlea Trahan

Hi!  My name is Arlea and I am a DONA certified birth doula and a  Lamaze trained childbirth educator.  I am an Air Force spouse and a mama of two.  I am a Florida girl, but this beautiful island has stolen my heart.  I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Health with a concentration in Community Health from the University of North Florida in 2010.  I went on to hold an array of different jobs—from retail to finance and insurance.  I never had a career I truly loved.  My passion for birth came after I had my daughter in 2016.  She was only a few months old when we were going for a walk.  A couple walked by me, and the woman was clearly in labor.  She stopped, and her partner held her as they swayed.  As I watched them, I felt this urge—this call to help them.  That’s when I knew I wanted to be a doula.  Then my dreams were confirmed after my first day of training.  This is who I am meant to be.

I am dedicated to helping pregnant people take back their birth experiences.  As your birth doula, I will support you and your partner physically and emotionally.  Whether this is delivery number 1 or number 5, medicated or unmedicated, vaginal or belly, my goal is for you to look back on your birth experience with no regrets.  I want you to feel safe, involved, and empowered.

I’ve personally experienced a hospital birth with an OB and a homebirth with a midwife.  My two kiddos are my greatest joy.  You will probably catch me babywearing one while chasing the other.

I also call myself a foodie and boba addict (jasmine green milk tea, 50% sweetness with boba please!)  I typically have The Office or Gilmore Girls playing in the background (oy, with the poodles already!)  The ocean refreshes my soul.  My love language is a straight tie between quality time and words of affirmation.

It would be an honor to support you through such a vulnerable and precious time in your life!  Thank you for considering me as your doula.
