Certified Labor and Birth Doula, Certified Postpartum Doula, Certified Indigenous Breastfeeding Counselor, Trained Childbirth Educator
My name is Kehaulani Avicolli and I was born and raised on this beautiful island of Oʻahu. I currently live in Kaneohe with my two young keiki, Kua’ōhū and Kāpi’inani. When I became pregnant with my first, I was instantly excited to learn about this new journey we were about to embark on and wanted to be as prepared as I could be. After a healthy pregnancy, but not very satisfying labor experience in the hospital, I quickly realized that things don’t always go as “planned.” I was yet to discover so much about the broken birth system in America, and I knew that mothers deserved more. I was so motivated to learn about helping others navigate pregnancy-postpartum that I decided to become a Doula.
I had a big village growing up and all my mothers (mom, aunties, grandmas) have played a great part in shaping who I am as a mom. My goal as a doula is to really engage and serve families in my community, in hopes to have some part in strengthening their birth and postpartum experiences.
Currently I am limiting birth clients to one a month, but I am supporting many postpartum moms and families full time here at BEST Birth Hawaii. I am mostly active with offering Bengkung Belly Binding + Lomi Lomi (massage) sessions. I am also a and certified Indigenous Breastfeeding Counselor and a trained Childbirth Educator working towards a Lamaze certification.
When I’m not supporting families as a doula, I love being a stay/work-at-home mom with another side health business I am growing. The ocean is a huge part of our lives and can usually find us surfing, paddling, swimming, hiking or just hanging out with family and friends at the beach. I am always listening to an audiobook or podcast when I’m driving (which is a lot) and at a season of my life where personal growth, health education and mindful healing is a top priority. I love to exercise, stay healthy and eat/cook really good food (and chocolate!)
Congratulations on this monumental and beautiful time! I am beyond honored and
happy to serve and support you and your family. I look forward to meeting and getting to know such wonderful people! MAHALO NUI.
