Franca Millis

Postpartum Doula

Trained Postpartum Doula

Aloha! My name is Franca Millis and I am a DONA trained Postpartum Doula based in Kailua, Hawaii. I am originally from Sardinia, Italy and thanks to my husband being in the military, I moved to the US in the 90’s. I have lived on Oahu for a total of 7 years and as a military spouse, I have moved multiple times, traveled between 2 continents and to these beautiful islands, all while raising my now grown-up triplets. I have experienced first hand how hard it is to raise a family while living the military lifestyle and always regretted not being able to fully enjoy the first year of my children’s life because of how overwhelming it was. Two years ago, I suddenly found myself an empty nester when my children all left for college at the same time. With newfound time on my hands, I began to contemplate what I wanted to do next. I reflected on my past and thought about the difficulties parents face when a new child comes into their life. As a result, I felt a strong calling to become a volunteer NICU cuddler and a postpartum doula. The cuddler pursuit was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic limiting access to hospitals. As for becoming a postpartum doula, I completed my training and I am now working to complete my certification.
In addition to being a postpartum doula, I am a yoga instructor. My interests include cooking, snorkeling, being outdoors, crafting, learning to play guitar, or anything new that grabs my attention.
