Kelsea Klein
Junior Doula
Trained Birth Doula
Aloha! My name is Kelsea and I was born and raised on the east side of Oahu. From a young age I knew that I wanted to be a mom. I looked forward to being pregnant and giving birth, despite my friends and relatives influencing me with their birth stories that involved trauma, fear and pain. Something in my heart told me that other perspectives and pathways had to exist regarding positive birth experience. When some close friends of mine shared their story of a beautiful, informed, educated and empowering birth experience at home, I had my prayers answered as to what direction I could take. When my husband and I became pregnant ourselves with our first born, we surrounded ourselves with strong support, proper education and lots of positive reinforcement in our decision to have a home birth. We were able to approach pregnancy and birth with confidence, peace and strength. This is where my passion and desire to spread hope to those who are fearful and hesitant about birth was sparked!
I have had two beautiful home births with my sons Luka and Mako. Lots of personal research, preparation, birth classes and the support of my birth team aided in blessing me with amazing birth experiences. I’m so thankful to have had the births that I did and my goal now is to give hope to those who are looking for the same support.
After 4 years of preschool teaching and two home births, I decided to become a stay home mom while pursuing my doula certification. I never stopped studying and reading about pregnancy, birth and holistic health practices so I decided, “Why not turn my passion into a career??” I’ve come to learn that by overcoming mental and psychological roadblocks and sticking to your convictions, beautiful and empowering birth can happen no matter where you are. Home or hospital, I am here to support YOUR decisions and provide you with the best resources in preparation for your baby’s entry into the world. Our bodies as women and mothers are incredible and I’m here to help you realize that you’re capable of!
I am so excited for you as you’re on this journey to parenthood!
I pray many blessings on you and thank you for taking time to get to know me.
I am looking forward to hearing from you!
Aloha,
Kelsea Klein
When I was pregnant with my first child in 2017, I thought that everything
about pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum was going to come
naturally. Boy, was I wrong! Pregnancy was debilitating; I had extreme nausea
and vomiting all throughout my pregnancy, and with that came depression. By
the time my daughter was born, I was defeated. What tipped me over the
edge was my difficult postpartum recovery and never-ending breastfeeding
challenges. This feeling of defeat went on for years. Eventually, I was
diagnosed with postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety three years
later.
After much needed therapy and time to heal, I owed it to myself as well
as my husband and daughter to seek for all the help I can get with my next
pregnancy. Fast forward to 2022, I knew I wanted a doula to guide me and my
husband for our last pregnancy. That’s when I reached out to Katja from Best
Birth Hawaii. One of the doulas Katja recommended to me was Kelsea Klein.
Where do I begin with Kelsea?! We had our first meeting through
facetime, and I instantly knew she was the one. We could hear the passion
from her voice, and we could see the twinkle in her eyes when she talked
about empowering expecting mothers and their family. Kelsea answered all
our questions without us even prompting them. As soon as we hung up, my
husband said, “we are gaining another sister!”
Kelsea is passionate and truly loves being a doula. She believes in
empowering everyone through education. She gave me resources on
evidence-based research on labor and birth, and this allowed me and my
husband to make important decisions on my birth plan. But the biggest
resource she provided us was her homebirth experience as well as
introducing us to an incredible midwife.
Initially, my husband and I were set on having a natural hospital birth, but
I was always curious about homebirth. Through the resources Kelsea
provided us, we made an educated decision to birth my last child at the
comfort of our home. This was the best decision we ever made!
On the day my son was born at home, we thank God for introducing Kelsea to
our lives. She was our guide, and most importantly, she made sure my
daughter was involved the entire time. She gave us comfort, strength, and joy
all throughout this amazing journey. I cry happy tears when I think about the
love and encouragement, she shared with us." -Marielle B.
