Certified Childbirth Educator, Prenatal Yoga Teacher, Trained Birth Doula

Victoria Swinghammer

I have nothing but great things to say about Jenn’s doula services! She was extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and reliable. She took her time to get to know and understand my husband and me. She replaced whatever fear I had of childbirth with confidence and encouragement. From the first day I met her, she was fully committed. Day or night I could always rely on her to answer my call. She helped me through my extremely challenging birth during COVID, when my husband was not permitted to attend. She was by my side the entire time supporting me through labor, delivery, and breastfeeding. We will be sure to hire Jenn for any future children we are blessed with.

Aloha!  I’m Victoria and I am passionate about supporting families holistically in body, mind and spirit as they go through the profound changes of pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood.

I trained as a Birth Doula and Childbirth Educator in 2016 at the Simkin Center for Allied Birth Professions at Bastyr University, a DONA and ICEA approved program that is one of the leading centers for the childbirth professions in the country.  I am also a Certified Yoga Teacher and a Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting Instructor.

After attending many births as a doula, I began to see how vital a role the mind plays over the body during labor and childbirth, and how vast a difference it makes in outcomes.  That’s when I found Nancy Bardacke’s book Mindful Birthing, and I had one of those A-ha! moments in life where I knew I was meant to share this as a birth worker.  I became a certified Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting Instructor and have been empowering couples with these life-changing practices ever since.

I was active duty military when I delivered my daughter at a military hospital in Alaska.  As I went through my own childbirth journey, I began to wonder why so many women have such vastly different birth experiences.

In our country we have too many women and babies starting off their journey with feelings of trauma, depression, and anxiety and the maternal mortality rate is too high.  To me, it matters how you were taken care of and how you were made to feel at your birth…regardless of how your baby comes to you.  I felt empowered, honored, heard, and respected at my baby’s birth, and I want every laboring family to feel that way too.

I am so excited that I get to share my passion for yoga, mindfulness, and childbirth education with the families of O’ahu and see them falling in love not only with their new baby, but with their entire childbirth experience!
