Maggie

Postpartum Doula and Childbirth Educator

Aloha all!

My name is Maggie. I've been happily working with Best Birth since 2021, originally as a birth doula, currently as a childbirth educator and postpartum doula. I am in the process of getting my lactation counselor certification as well. It has been so fruitful and rewarding being able to follow my passion and I’m grateful to be here!

I’m a mother of a preschool aged girl and she is my universe. Her and my husband are my “why” for everything. My birth with her went a little sideways, I experienced many interventions, but ultimately I had a positive experience because I was educated and completely supported. That is the main drive behind my passion for childbirth education, ensuring couples understand what is going on so they can make informed decisions as a team, no matter which direction their birth takes.

I was fortunate enough to be a surrogate in 2024 which was extremely rewarding in all kinds of ways, one of which being that I got to experience a redemptive unmedicated birth. Feeling the true power of my body was incredible and empowering.

The postpartum season comes in many shapes and sizes. My goal, as a postpartum doula, is to support families however they need. I am here to help with breastfeeding, housework, bathing your baby, diapering, swaddling, soothing, baby wearing… pretty much whatever you need in order to feel supported and encouraged.

I am very grateful to have this role and I look forward to meeting you!

Maggie's birth class was great. She set the perfect tone for the class on our first day. Having recently given birth herself, she shared some of her own birth story and let us know that even when things don't go as you plan, that doesn't mean your birth experience still can't be positive. Her class was very informative, yet somehow, she also found a way to make a birth class fun. She answered any and all questions we had and made herself available outside of class for questions as well. I was set to give birth at the same hospital with the same doctors she did, and it was great to be able to ask someone with first hand experience my questions. When I was at a loss as to what exactly I should stock up on for postpartum supplies at home, I reached out to her and she gave me a list (including tips on how to make padsicles). My pregnancy was incredibly difficult on my mental health and I decided early on that I didn't want to try to have a natural birth and that I wasn't going to breastfeed. Maggie supported my choices without any judgement or hesitation. Even now that the class is over she has checked in to see how things are going since our baby was born. I'm so glad we had Maggie as a teacher for this experience. -Coby
