Tyra

Postpartum Doula and lactation counselor

Trained Labor and Birth Doula, Certified Indigenous Lactation Counselor and Certified Indigenous Postpartum Doula

Aloha! My name is Tyra, born and raised in Puʻuloa, Oʻahu and I currently reside in the ahupuaʻa of Mānana with my ‘ohana. I am a wife and māmā of 2 daughters, Emalani & Kapuahālaʻi. From a young age I loved babies and taking care of others and I have had the opportunity to grow up around amazing women and mothers. Nine years ago I attended the birth of my niece and I was instantly hooked on birth and breastfeeding.

ʻAʻole pau ka ʻike i ka hālau hoʻokahi - Mary Kawena Pukui (ʻŌlelo Noʻeau) I have learned and am continuing my education & experiences in traditional Native Hawaiian Practices such as ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language), Pule (prayer), Oli (chant), and am studying more in-depth of Native Hawaiian Birth and breastfeeding Practices.

I am Indigenous Lactation Counselor and Postpartum Doula I aim to serve the community of Hawaiʻi to support and empower birth and postpartum. As a doula, my kuleana (responsibility) to families is to provide support to postpartum families and uplift them in ways I can best be of service. As my personal postpartum experience grows, I truly believe that a supported birth and postpartum experience has positive impacts on this and future generations to come.

I am excited for the opportunity to support the community through birth work and empowerment!

Hoʻomaikaʻi (congratulations) to your ʻohana during a magical and sacred time! Mahalo nui!
